Today: 469
Yesterday: 656
One week ago (5/25): 523

Newly reported cases
T: 16K
Y: 23K
5/25: 19K

Newly reported tests
T: 404K
Y: 406K
5/25: 441K

Positive test rate
T: 4%
Y: 6%
5/25: 4%
Mondays have been *very* slow reporting days lately so keep that in mind. The numbers will likely get worse again over the next few days. Still, fewest cases since 3/25 and fewest deaths since 3/28, and the lowest positive test rate yet. So, some positive news.
Also, the decline in cases is mostly concentrated in the northeast plus a few scattered rural states. *A lot of the country is still roughly at a plateau in new cases*, although the decline in deaths may be a bit more robust.

Relatedly, one of my favorite models has slightly lowered its estimate of the fatality rate in the US. That would be good news if it holds. We should hope to do a better job over time of protecting the most vulnerable and treating people who do get sick.
