CM Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray's address to the State;
#NisargaUpdates

I am before you again. While speaking to you last time, I had referred to a cyclone. Now, it has reached our doorstep.
The @Indiametdept predictions suggest that based on its present path, the cyclone may make landfall near Alibag by tomorrow noon. It may have winds gusting at 100-125 km per hour speeds. Let us pray that it subsides or its intensity reduces by the time it reaches us.
We are prepared. The Army, Navy, Air Force are on standby. A total of 19 teams of the NDRF (15) and SDRF (4) have been deployed wherever needed and five more teams are ready for additional help.
Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji and Union Home Minister @AmitShah ji have assured us of the Central Government’s support.
We were easing the lockdown from June 3. But, considering the impact of the impending cyclone, I am requesting you to refrain from leaving home for two crucial days, that is, tomorrow and day after.
Offices, industries and other activities, which have started functioning, will be shut tomorrow and day after. Do not leave your house for your own safety and well-being.
All fishermen on the coastline have been contacted and have returned home. They will not be able to venture into the sea for at least two days.

Though the cyclone may make landfall at Alibag, everyone from Mumbai to Sindhudurg and Palghar must be on alert.
We may have to disconnect power supply at some places due to intense rainfall. As far as possible, do not use unnecessary electrical equipment once the rains start.
Keep battery-operated equipment at home, like phones, emergency lights and power banks charged to help tide over power cuts.
Secure loose things and equipment outside your houses or bring them inside your homes so that they do not hurt anyone due to heavy gusts of wind.
Keep your documents and valuables at safe places.

Keep medicines handy as the danger of Corona is yet to pass.

Do not spread rumours, listen to updates on Doordarshan and Akashwani. The Govt will also issue alerts on SMS.
If need be, those in the danger zone may need to be shifted elsewhere. I would request you to please co-operate with officials and follow their instructions.
In rural areas, and even in kuccha structures and slums in cities, keep one space in the house as a safe space for refuge during heavy winds.

Do not take shelter in dilapidated buildings or temporary structures.
In my previous interactions, I have spoken about jumbo facilities and field hospitals, including a facility at Bandra Kurla Complex. Yesterday, after the cyclone warning was received, these patients were shifted.
The shed at BKC is waterproof, and will withstand rainfall, but we wanted to avoid injury to people due to storm surges.

Shift to designated spaces earmarked by the administration.
Disconnect power supply to non-essential electrical equipment during this emergency to prevent electric shocks, especially in rural areas

Stock drinking water and essentials and keep them handy.
If you feel there is a gas leak or chemical leak, stay away from it, the administration will handle it.

If someone needs aid, stay safe while helping them to prevent any damage.
Let us fight this danger like we are standing up to the Corona pandemic and are on our way to defeat it. Likewise, we will prevail over this situation too!

Jai Hind, Jai Maharashtra.
