If your Covid policies caused dentists to be shut; cancer screenings to be delayed, ODs to rise, you can’t approve of protests because, first, protests have a cap on its power to force change. I mean, if protests does the job why are we still stuck on the same challenges?
Secondly, dentist/cancer care has no other way of being taken care of except for getting the direct care. Public policy however can get changed with many tools beyond protets. So you don’t need to kill yourself and Grandma from Covid-19 to secure change. cc @FreddiGoldstein
Third, even if protests are needed despite causing Grandma to die from Coronavirus, then all protests at all times should be with proper social distancing, but in most cases there is no distancing even when PD is not there to push people into a tighter space. cc @MarkLevineNYC
Fourth, since protest tries to force change, elected officials across cities/states should draft up emergency legislation and get it approved NOW. No sense to wait especially that grandma is dying from all those gatherings which are also causing hell for Contact Tracers.
Electeds A) approve of protests B) without going crazy about distancing C) despite the limits of what protest delivers and D) despite other tools avail to force change E) despite their ability to pass laws to fix the issues, because it was never about science/data on Covid-19.
If you are of the above officials, which would be most lawmakers of/in NYC, you are a fraud whose agenda - whatever it is - led to a prolonged shutdown which contributed to an increase in ODs, suicides and lack of cancer/dental care. If you are of the masses who yelled like hell
about small prayer groups and small funerals, you are not oh so smart and sophisticated. You are a useful idiot incapable of seeing that you were being used by the “listen to the experts” crowd who throw everything out the window the moment that they decide it’s ok to do it!
There is a huge gap between going crazy about small prayer/study groups versus cheering on prolonged, huge protests with little distancing. If you do both in the same month, as @NYCMayor did, it shows that data/science about Covid is just a tool for agendas; whatever it may be.
This is EXACTLY what I am talking about! Cuomo said only today that there will be moves on 50A. Why not a week ago, and why did he not yet speak with @CarlHeastie and @AndreaSCousins about it as Covid-spreading protests are happening? Get it done so protests can end sooner.
