Seeing all the hatred on the pregnant elephant's killing in Kerala, need to add something. The elephant was found dead in the Velliyar river which flows through Palakkad district. The exact place was Kottopadam panchayat in Mannarkad in Palakkad dictrict.
I spoke to Panchayat President who went to the river and saw the injured elephant. A few days before it was found in the river, the injured elephant was spotted in the same panchayat. The place is on the border of Malappuram and Palakkad. (is the only Malappuram connection)
The poor elephant was killed because of the cruel and illegal practice of snaring. Investigators will hopefully find who did it, and which district the person belonged to. I simply wanted to put out facts on where the elephant was found.
