(THREAD) I've been thinking long and hard about what's happening in our country right now. Our ancestors fought wars to protect our democracy. Our ancestors fought wars to protect our Constitution. Our ancestors lost their lives to protect equality. /1
No matter what race, religion, or political party you are part of, we can't just sit by and watch everything we fought for fade away. We are witnessing the President of the United States trying to pit Americans against Americans in a manner never seen before in history. /2
We have had 7 former U.S. Military Generals come forward to condemn Trump's attacks on our democracy. We've witnessed the U.S. Military being used to tear-gas peaceful Americans. We've witnessed the President call for his supporters to join his "army" against "Liberal MOBS." /3
People ask me why I hate President Trump, and tell me that I should respect the office of the Presidency. How the hell can I respect a man who doesn't respect me or America? I respect the office of the Presidency very much so. That's why I vehemently disrespect Donald Trump. /4
Republicans view their support for Trump as a means to an end for their own reelection. Americans aren't stupid. Those Republicans who stand up to Trump's authoritarian ways, while embracing their original conservative ideologies, will be our heroes. /5
Republicans who say "enough is enough," will be the ones to lead the party once Trump is gone. Trumpism will hardly exist once Trump is gone. When that happens, Conservatives will need leaders to follow. Those leaders will not be the ones who follow Trump into his demise. /6
Now is the time, Republicans! Now is the time to say "I've had it." Now is the time to become a real leader, one who doesn't just do what you think is best for Trump. America will respect you for it, including many Democrats. 7/7
