Most people still do not understand my inability, actually my refusal, to let go of 2016 and what happened to @HillaryClinton in her attempt to become the first woman to win US Presidency.

The assumption is that I am singularly fixated on Clinton, but that is wrong

1/
Granted, I think that she was, in fact, and probably still is, the person most qualified and able to lead us at that time and this.

Her intellect and depth of knowledge, her steadiness, her curiosity, her stamina, her experience, and her contact list make her uniquely able.

2/
She is literally all of those things. And the current, ahem occupant, is none of those things. He lacks ability and nobility, he lacks empathy and humility, he lacks knowledge and curiosity. He lacks everything necessary to lead any size nation, let alone ours.

3/
And the fact is we knew all of that in 2016. Most people did. There was a reason the world was shocked on that terrible Wednesday morning. There was a reason so many of us trembled with fear and even regret.

And that reason is everyone KNEW, at their center, we had erred.

4/
It does not actually matter to me anymore how it happened, because we know who most of the guilty parties are, and they know we know. What matters to me is that so few seem to really understand how serious it all was, nor how uniquely connected it was to Clinton's gender.

5/
As I watch Biden skate through so much of what they tried to destroy Clinton for, and never tried to hold Trump accountable for at all, I am overwhelmed with a gnawing sense that to let it go would be to let it stand, to lend it tacit approval, to say it was OK.

It wasn't.

6/
At every single stage of that election, from the primary through the general election there was a massive and coordinated effort to keep her from winning.

There was no stone, whether real or completely fabricated that was left unturned.

It was brutal and relentless.

7/
From questioning the validity of the primary results, to questions about her age/stamina even when many of her opponents were older than her, to holding her responsible for other people's mistakes/legislation/lies, to BenServerEmailsGhaziGate, to Pizzagate

It was repulsive.

8/
And the media, whether trying to create a "horserace," or look unbiased, or to get back at Clinton personally, or out of pure misogyny spent the entire election either over-correcting in the wrong direction, lending credibility to every attack, or simple being silence helped.

9/
I have spent four years trying gain some sort if insight into the reasons that so few want talk about what happened.

And it is not like it is nit relevant, because it is...they used the same tactics against @KamalaHarris, @amyklobuchar, and @ewarren this cycle.

10/
Harris and Warren particularly, and probably because they appeared to have actual shots at winning at the start, were allowed absolutely no room for error. They were dissected in ways not even @PeteButtigieg was, and he's gay.

The right wing, though diabolical in their methodology, are rarely original practioneers, and once they find a formula that works they will generally run it till it collapses under the weight of its own predictability.

I found 2016 almost as hilarious as I did maddening.

12/
What limited mirth I could wring out of the nightmare came not from the GOP's methods, which were foul and despicable, Bieber, but from the ridiculous level of actual stupidity exhibited by large swaths of the American voting public.

I mean seriously.

Seriously.

Hey-Soos Kreestos. They had been doing the same thing to the Clinton's for three decades at that point.

Invent a fraudulent story or twist the truth in such an epic way as to render it such or simply blame them for other's sins and repeat the attacks ad nauseum, everywhere.

14/
They'd used this method so many times in the past, and people had fallen for it so often, only to learn that the charges were mostly bullshit, that you would have thought that the Clinton's would start to have been given the benefit of the doubt and GOP auto-mocked.

But no.
