He is a really talented health and science writer who brings humanity as well as intellect to his articles.

So many young. So many missed, maybe through a false negative especially is the test is delayed, pushing the false negative rate up to 30%.

Or their symptoms did not fit the limited criteria set within their own country for a test.
Why do some people recover completely, relatively lightly affected and others do not?

There is plenty of speculation. Increasingly the long live-virus infection period is thought unlikely
More likely that having provoked the immune system it goes into overdrive.
Fits with PIMS
Bad enough to have the physical symptoms.

Worse to then be met with “medical gaslighting” downplaying the physical suffering as being all in the head.

Insult to injury and surely anxiety inducing.
Maybe the outer effects of SARS and Ebola can give some clues.

Maybe the ME/CFS community can give some leads.

And maybe the numbers of people affected by COVID will result in some real clout behind research with follow up studies.
