Hi, my name is Ayomikun Adekaiyero & if you didn’t know I’m the social media editor of PressPad. Being black myself, I was personally moved by the events in America & wanted to do what I could to help make up for all the times I have not stood up against the racism towards me.
We came up with the idea to make a list of black journalists and reached out to our followers to give us a list of up & coming black journalists. They did not disappoint. Welcome to the first round of brilliant black journalists in response to our crowdsource earlier this week.
We hope this may encourage more young black people into journalism which will help #DiversifyTheMedia. We also want to support the #BlackLivesMatter movement & elevate black voices, not just now but continually so that their voice does not get silenced again.
Finally, we hope editors and experienced journalists are reading this thread and will follow all these talented journalists – and commission them, hire them and ask them to speak at events etc.

First up we have @OxMailIndyaC. She’s a multimedia journalist & currently a reporter for @TheOxfordMail. Watch her investigative documentary about why there is such a lack of black blood donors in the UK

Trainee journalist @_LutherO is the host of Ev n' Luth, a radio show that reports on the latest hip-hop and rap news. Just before lockdown, their show developed into a youtube channel where they also do album reviews.

.@ChanellAWallace is a TV presenter and investigative journalist. Last year she won Best Current Affairs Programme at the @RTS_media's North West Awards for her documentary Life After My Brother’s Murder.
