So this old Buzzfeed story and claim went viral today, but it's misleading. Cops are held to the same rape laws as everyone else. This is suggesting that consensual sex between a cop and someone they detain should legally be treated as a rape even if it was consensual.
Underlying case is more complicated than the original BF article presented. Cops were charged with rape originally but some evidence came out that the victim wasn't being honest about it not being consensual. As a result the two cops ended up pleading guilty to accepting a bribe.

Of course it's perfectly reasonable to argue maybe consent is impossible in those situations and we should treat them like rape, but the original claim that all a cop has to do is claim it was consensual to be exonerated is just not accurate.
