So, I had a brief tweetscussion (twittalogue) with a Trump supporter who very kindly gave me their 6 top reasons for supporting #Trump

I'm going to discuss each of them in the following thread & explain why I think each one is 100% falseifiable & what it means for politics.

1/

1. Doesn't give a rats a$$ what the media says about him

I think what they meant was

"Will say what he wants to say regardless of what ppl think"

Bc of course he cares. All he does is watch the news to see what's being said about him. How do we know this? His Twitter feed.

If he likes what's being said (Fox) he'll put it in a tweet instantly, quoting the 'journalist'

If he doesn't like it he'll tweet "FAKE NEWS"

Even if it were true, what kind of leader doesn't care what ppl say of him? Maybe a good thing if he had any morals or decency.

But even if you agree with his morals why would you want a leader that doesn't mind upsetting everyone else? Maybe bc YOU don't mind upsetting everyone else? Bc you have no empathy? Or just narrow minded you can't appreciate others think differently? Either way, not a good trait

If it were true, which it isn't.

2. Speaks in plain language

Wow. What garbage. I'll take that to mean "Doesn't use fancy words"

Fair enough. But there is nothing of quality in his communication style.

Just check the transcript of his recent radio interview with Kilmeade.

Not 1 coherent, well constructed thought. When asked about improving things for the black community, all he did was talk about his NASA speech where he mentioned #GeorgeFloyd

Garbage. I'm not spending any more characters on this.

3. Not a politician - a businessman

Really? Why is that good? You can't run a country like a business, why would anyone think you can. It has to be run like an NPO. It CAN'T be about profit.

Putting that aside, he's an awful businessman. He really is. 6 bankruptcies. SIX. Failed hotels. Failed Casinos...

A university that closed bc of multiple lawsuits

Failed sports teams

He was even financial advisor to Mike Tyson at one time (how'd that turn out?)

The man still doesn't even know how tariffs work

His brand is now mud, what a businessman

I'm putting 4 & 5 together next...

4 & 5 Jobs & the economy

Ok. Both of these were due to an inherited economy from Obama & a democratic admin who constantly have to clean up Republican defecits. Which they did

All he had to do was not fuck it up

Covid19 had other plans

But again 100% falsifiable claims there

Last one:

6 "Pro life"

Is he though? Or is he just anti women? I have my own views.

Anyway, this seems to be the only one from the list that might actually be genuine

This is a touchy subject, personally I'm pro choice, but I'm going to leave this one alone

Summary to fin:

It's worrying. That ppl can be so blinded by the reality of a person, bc of the fake reality that the person projects

In this day and age I thought we were past that

In the age of digital info, there are no more secrets

Everything is there for us to know

But in the words...

From a great movie:

You want to be fooled

There are still ppl that don't want to deal with reality

Or are just incapable of using reason to see what is right in front of them

So what about the future?

Imagine a man with Trumps greed and cruelty but with political savvy...

Hopefully we never see the likes of him again but I fear that he has opened the door for a more subtle version of him

We may not see him/her coming

They may fool most, if not all, of us again

Let's all be vigilant for Trump2.0
