About NAXALISM
The Naxalite movement was started by Charu Majumdar, Kanu Sanyal and Jangal Santhal in West Bengal in 1967 under the banner of Communist Party of India (Marxist).

The movement has changed many banners over the past four decades and is now called the CPI (Maoist), which is a banned organisation in the country.
This CPI (Maoist) party got unlimited FUNDINGS and RESOURCES from varios nations like Russia, China, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Nepal.
To Counter these internal Insurgencies , the first and most active Govt. was of Andhra Pradesh , which in 1989 created the Greyhound forces to eliminate these maoist naxals, which were the greatest threat to the state.
In Two decades (1989 to 2007 ) GREYHOUND soldiers eliminated hundreds of such terrorists in jungles , The Maoist count dropped from 1230 to 490 , also their acts of violence on civilians dropped from 600 to less than 100.
From Nehru, Indira, Rajeev to Manmohan Singh all prime ministers of INC used LINEANT METHODOLOGY to tackle these terrorists being a LEFT LEANING CENTRALIST party. It was more of an agreement where they kept a blind eye towards such regions which are Rural and remote.
There has been various instances in past where Congress links with Communists and Maoists Naxals were exposed , but the Left ecosystem in Mainstream Media kept it low and hidden untill it started pouring out from crevices .
To Curb this fast growing disease called NAXALS , BJP after winning with majority for the first time, in 2014 came out with a MULTI PRONGED COUNTER INSURGENCY STRATEGY, which was BALANCED , HOLISTIC and ROBUST.
This was headed by then Minister for Home Affairs RAJNATH SINGH as CHAIRPERSON

(LWE) LEFT WING EXTREMISM DIVISION to include all active communist insurgent groups.
The focus of this team was to address SECURITY, DEVELOPMENT AND GOVERNANCE DEFICIT in 106 odd districts, especially 35 most affected in 7 states of LWE.

Rajnath singh led LWE management division took several steps in the coming years to tackle 3 major issues mentioned above, Some of them are as followed :-

🚩 100 battalions comprising 92000 CAPF
and COBRA
(Commando battalion for resolute action) were strategically positioned in red corridors to fill the SECURITY VACUUM.
🚩 Increased INCENTIVES for the HARDSHIP of FORCES and RETENTION of FORCES.

GOVERNANCE :-
🚩 Since 2014, the number of violent attack incidents and death came to the lowest in just one year in 2015. A decrease in deaths by 79%.
🚩The most possitive News was the number of surrenders which has increased to THREE FOLD from previos numbers under UPA govt.

Conclusion: In the following years LWE had lost 67% of its FORCES. THE LEFTIST MEDIA claimed BJPs approach as "HAWKISH", although the more forces went down through mode of surrender than assaults.
Also for first time in the history of independent INDIA, The BJP government successfully SHRINKED the LWE footprints.
This shows their better understanding of SECURITY both INTERNALLY and EXTERNALLY when compared to the previous UPA Govt.
