New figures out from the ONS on deaths in England & Wales this am.
Putting them together with the rest of the UK, by my calculations the cumulative total UK excess deaths since the beginning of the pandemic is now up to 63,718.
Of those, 50,178 are officially put down to #COVID19
UK excess deaths charted
Number of deaths above historical average now up to 64,000 since the onset of the pandemic.
Falling in recent weeks, but not as fast as anyone would like.
Note this is all the UK - I’ve incorporated today’s Eng/Wales figs plus those from Scotland/NI too
The Institute & Faculty of Actuaries estimates we are now up to 65k excess deaths in the UK since the onset of #COVID19.
@ChrisGiles_ reckons 66k.
@statsjamie thinks closer to 68k.
Either way, a horribly high death toll.
