The Confederacy scuttled Reconstruction, metastasized in Jim Crow and segregation, was given free reign to exist in everything but name by Andrew Johnson and Rutherford B. Hayes, and then scrubbed clean of its treason, cruelty, and white supremacy by the Lost Cause mythology.
The reason this movement is even necessary is because the Confederacy and white supremacy survived the Civil War has transformed into an insidious disease that hid itself behind the veneer of espoused principles like freedom and equality.
