@arvalis Wow I'm glad I'm not alone noticing that. It's very hard to pinpoint indeed. Probably a difference in proportions, shape language & very different reference points (architecture, animals, vegetation...).
@arvalis Miyazaki, unsatisfied, told his concept artist one day:
"Can't you instead try to convey the deep sorrow of a magnificent beast doomed to a slow and possibly endless descent into ruin?"
@arvalis It's the same with SotC remake. It was a crystal clear game with lush vegetation, while the original was a barren ethereal land. Somehow, we gain in fidelity & clarity what we lose in dream-like quality relying on our imagination.
