Seth leaks the emails. DNC finds out. They bring in Crowdstrike to blame Russia publicly. Someone associated with this operation poses as a Russian hacker, pretending to not be a Russian hacker (can't be too obvious). He tells Podesta, I need your emails to use as "proof".
Uses some attachments to claim he is behind the DNC hack. Leaves a bunch of clues in them that he's Russian. Wikileaks contacts him. Probably surprises him. He decides to actually give them the full Podesta tranche. They publish the DNC first, Podesta in October.
This scenario would tend to implicate someone close to Podesta, not Crowdstrike. Perhaps they didn't trust Crowdstrike enough to involve them this deeply. Just blame the Russians and that was enough for Crowdstrike.
