As I got up this morning, a few thoughts about the move to stop #onlineeducation. The GoK does realize that many parents will send their kids to online classes like Whitehat or sign them up for Byjus now, right? What happened to their grand scheme of curtailing screen time?
Also, their logic that children from disadvantaged backgrounds have no access to the Internet. Well, this inequity existed before. Now it will widen when parents opt for other means and resources. Unless you want to ban YouTube while you're at it? #onlinelearning #Karnataka
I know of many orgs, activity curators, tutors who are rubbing their hands in glee, waiting to fill the sudden gap in online learning. So @mheduNIMHANS assumes that kids will just stop using tech? Is the GoK going to come to all our houses and find out? #onlinelearning
Those parents who are against online classes can homeschool their children. Why spoil it for some of us who make very sensible use of online learning, partner with our schools the right way, and do a good job so that our children benefit from it? #onlinelearning
If the government is citing health reasons, then ban all gadgets for children. They can’t be selective about online classes. If not, way to go, you just sent kids back to more hours of Pokemon and Chotta Bheem. #OnlineLearning
Please tweet, retweet, tag, and more. I am not letting this get away.
To parents who complain about online learning, some of us really like it. Why can't the GoK issue guidelines instead? Not that they should even interfere in PRIVATE education but let each parent make the choice. #OnlineLearning needn't be compulsory.
I love working in education and writing about it. I wake up every day, happy to go to work. But today I feel frustrated, upset, sad, depressed and powerless because I have no freedom as a parent. I don't have a choice to teach my child the way I want to.
I just realized how pedantic people's view of education is that they say things like "why online learning? Let them enjoy." It is strange but I suppose one cannot blame such people because they are still stuck in the past and have such a short-sighted view of education.
They assume that it is only about marks or studying when a learning experience can be open-ended and great fun.It can be life itself! It needn't even involve exams, benchmarks or textbooks. But because these people lump it together under one system
they have such an old-fashioned view of it, really. I don't blame them and I don't feel angry. In fact, I almost feel bad for them.
