India is a veritable #TowerofBabel, with more than two dozen official languages and hundreds of dialects.

This has caused lots of tension because everyone wants to preserve their culture. There's also the feeling that there should be some link language to connect the whole.

For a long time, #English was the link language, but self-styled nationalists, especially from the ruling #BJP, felt this was a betrayal of "Indian" values.

So they kept pushing for the use of #Hindi as the #NationalLanguage.

But Hindi is not even spoken by a majority (>50%) of Indians. It is merely spoken by the most Indians.

So people of other ethnicities worry that under Hindi domination, their languages would disappear.

A three-language formula was suggested as far back as the 1960s.

Beyond creating some awareness in all sincerity, there is no point bemoaning it. Socio-econ trends vary from country to country but they aren’t completely unique either. Here too, it will play out well over time. Modernity suits Dharmic values/polities in a way feudalism doesn’t.

Whenever BJP seems more secure, certain type surfaces saying X and Y same, Hindu unity meaningless, first remove quotas etc.

But with INC get more caste *and* religious quotas. If you want to vote your caste etc, fine. If you want to vote as a Hindu, please do not fool yourself.

organisations were equally investing on the Congress and on the BJP at that time. That is the strategy of other communities and it makes sense because whoever comes to power, the 1st thing they say is "Hum Minorities ke liye itna pesa dete hai". Everybody is forced to say that.

But it is not the same compulsion for every Government to say that "Humne Hinduo ke liye itna kiya hai".

2. There is no guarantee that a particular political party will stay in power forever and #Karnataka is the current example. Which is why, it makes much more sense to invest

1. BSY stayed with BJP, hatched a revenge plan

2. Shettar denied ticket, (BSY son will not get prominence in the party if Shettar is in BJP, now Shettar political career finished )

3. Somanna was shifted to C’nagar and was asked to contest against Siddaramaiah ( another Lingayat leader sidelined, his son career halted)

4. Kateel will resign as BJP President, BSY son will be made BJP President.

5. All leaders who were against BSY defeated.

6.DKS and BSY have a great understanding

7. Next election under the leadership of BSY son BJP will emerge as winners.

8. DKS will not become CM, Siddaramaiah will be CM till 2024 elections and will vacate the CM chair for DKS

Given all that, this is a huge #flop

Modi's image has taken a beating.
