The total number of deaths in the UK occurring in March and April (registered by 15 May) was 147,785; 44,449 (43%) more than the five-year average for the same period.

Of these, 38,156 (25.8%) involved #COVID19 ow.ly/zHIJ50A5PGg
England had the highest rate of #COVID19 deaths (363.8 deaths per 100,000 population), followed by Scotland (319.4 deaths per 100,000 population).

The lowest rate was in Northern Ireland, with 185.9 deaths per 100,000 population ow.ly/lXKN30qP6zo
Deaths occurring in March and April 2020 were higher than the five-year average in all types of location:

▪️ private homes +40.3%
▪️ hospitals +22.9%
▪️ elsewhere +9.1%
