Study: Covid-19 to cost Premier League clubs UK£1bn in 2019/20
Deloitte warns top-flight sides will earn just half of matchday revenue next season.
Top-flight English soccer sides will face a permanent loss of UK£500 million (US$629 million) made up of rebates to broadcasters and the loss of matchday revenue from the suspension of competition, but that a further UK£500 million missing off the 2019/20 balance sheets
Clubs are forecast to earn around half of what they normally would in matchday revenue in the 2020/21 season, with that estimate of UK£350 million (US$409 million) set to be lost if supporters cannot return to stadiums at any stage in the season.
The grim picture comes against the backdrop of clubs posting record revenues for 2018/19, with the Premier League combined revenues topping UK£5 billion (US$6.2 billion) for the first time.
Dan Jones, the head of Deloitte’s sports business group, anticipates that around two-thirds of the UK£500m loss will be rebates to broadcasters, with the remaining third related to matchday revenue.
Deloitte found that Europe’s ‘big five’ leagues – England’s Premier League, French Ligue 1, German Bundesliga, Italian Serie A and Spain’s La Liga – generated a record UK£15 billion revenue in 2018/19, a nine per cent increase on the previous year.
I wonder if anyone has done research on how much the #PSL or the #AbsaPrem is set to loose this season, I would love to see it.

There are many parts to this but we'll concentrate on the SA Tourism mandate and the deal

Juventus handed a 15 point deduction and directors banned
Club found to have falsely inflated the value of players and misrepresented losses. Last year's financials showed losses of €254 million, the highest ever in Italian football.
The most cited example in the reported 42 suspicious Juve transfers being looked at by the FIGC is last year's deal between the 36-time Italian champions and Barcelona which saw Miralem Pjanic move to Catalonia and Arthur Melo go the other way.
Arthur was valued at €72 million and Pjanic €60 million, but even though nowhere near that amount of cash was paid both clubs could immediately book the values of the sales on their balance sheets.

Illegal sports streaming is made up of many complex layers and broadcasters are trying their hardest to fight back.
But is this a battle they can win?
THREAD ⬇️
A study conducted by the Digital Citizens Alliance estimated that illegal streaming costs the sports industry $3.3-billion a year. This figure includes not only lost revenue from advertisers and subscriptions, but also the cost of producing and airing the sports events themselves
Another study, conducted by the Sports Video Group, found that illegal streaming cost the sports industry $1.5-billion in lost revenue in 2018. This study did not take into account the cost of producing the events or other potential losses.
