A truly thoughtful, well-meaning man would take the fact that so many Christian professionals feel unfree as a clue that perhaps the judicial precedents David incessantly invokes are an insufficient solution to the problem.

If @TheDispatch wasn't simply a clearinghouse for bad-faith arguments, an editor would've noticed a fairly glaring flaw in French's logic: he insinuates the Christians who are buckling to censorship are the ones who support Trump -- but nowhere does he show it.
I'm all for the censored responding with courage & defiance. But French's lectures about how individuals should respond to pressure doesn't even begin to explain why those of us not in those situations shouldn't work to address that censorship at the electoral & policy levels.
As usual, nowhere in his latest screed does French make a cases that none of the current and future harm posed to 330 million Americans by a Democrat administration warrants keeping Trump in office, or that the net human suffering from a second Trump term would somehow be worse.
One final observation from this dreck, regarding his invocation of Mattis's attack on Trump: nobody who thinks "unifying" with the modern American left is either possible or desirable should be taken seriously anywhere on the American right.
