Unpopular #thread on #SushantSinghRajput, #KanganaRanaut, @karanjohar, and #Nepotism coming up.

Apologies in advance. Mute/block/unfollow because it's more of a rant too.

It is just sad that we all have to do this within 24 hours of Sushant's passing but it is important.
Within the first hour of the news breaking, people had started with their conspiracy theories. Some connected it with his former manager's death by suicide last week, others let their imagination run wild. Media bonkers.

He was 34. Gave a big hit in 2019 and a big flop.
Many in Bollywood literally woke up to the news, shocked and sad. Many who seem to have known what Sushant had been working with, felt guilty, possibly for not reaching out to him.

A vulture put out a tweet elaborating how he died and disclosing Sushant was depressed.
Mental health took the center stage, and rightly so, it is still something that is not discussed as often and loudly it should be. Everyone turned mental health experts when another vulture put out a blind they had published last week. That triggered another vulture to jump in.
Karan had tweeted and made a longer post on Instagram abou Sushant. The third vulture mentioned above had managed to bring in the nepotism angle by then. Enter Alia with her tweet and all hell broke loose because she had made a snide remark about Sushant on Koffee With Karan ffs.
Within hours of the news breaking, Karan, Alia and Salman Khan were held responsible for Sushant's passing because two of them are 'flagbearers' of nepotism and one is the beneficiary.

Kangana, meanwhile, learning her lines to make enter and make it all about herself.
All these names start trending, and people are calling for a boycott of movies produced by Dharma, YRF, Dinesh Vijan, SKF and the like. Why? Because they all promote and propagate nepotism and outsiders who struggled to make a space in the industry are not recognised enough.
Many go to sleep after half-a-day's outrage, many struggle to. This afternoon, Kangana drops her video. The first sentence she says has, "Kuch log joh is cheez mai mahir hai" and basically says people with high intellect cannot be depressed.

YOU SHOULD BE WORRIED ABOUT THIS.
This is the same person who defended Suraj Pancholi in Jiah Khan case saying, "Depression is a disease which should be treated like one. When a person chooses to take a step like that it is irrelevant what made them do it."

HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THIS.
She then cites Sushant requesting a fan to go watch his film saying if the film doesn't work, he'll be thrown out of the industry.

WHY IS THAT A POINT OF CONTENTION?

If your films don't work, you'll be irrelevant, and eventually, thrown out. Sushant won't be the first.
Then she says he wondered, "Why doesn't the industry accept me, I feel like a leftover." These are strong words she mouthed. Does she know he felt like that? NO. If yes, why didn't she do anything about it? Why is she screaming now?

THEN SHE LINKS THIS DIRECTLY WITH THE SUICIDE.
She then says Sushant's Kai Po Che wasn't acknowledged enough, he didn't win awards. She is, one, stupid, two, spreading fake news. Kai Po Che, with an ensemble cast, made Sushant a star. He was more recognised and celebrated than Raj Kumar Rao then.
He was nominated for Best Debut Male award in most of the award functions and won at Screen Awards. We all know how award functions work. We saw Suraj Pancholi walk away with one. At the same time, even Shah Rukh Khan openly jokes about not winning awards. So? FALSE EQUIVALENCE.
She then says Dhoni wasn't recognised! What the actual fuck! A movie that did Rs 200 plus crore at the box-office, critically acclaimed for nuanced performance and especially the Helicopter Shot, was not recognised? She is nuts and so are all of you who're buying her propaganda.
She then says Chhichhore is 2019's best film and the best director. Now that's purely subjective. The movie was great, Sushant and all others were brilliant, movie did numbers also, but there were many others films in 2019 that did well and had mettle.

NEXT IS THE WORST.
"Humai aapse kuch nahi chahiye, humai aapke films nahi chahiye, lekin hum joh khud karte hai, aap humare acknowledgement humai kyun nahi dete hai?"

WHAT? WHAT WAS THAT AGAIN? KANGANA, SUSHANT, SHAH RUKH, AMITABH BACHCHAN, NO ONE IS 'ENTITLED' TO ANY ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FROM ANYONE.
Then she talks about her directorial venture and I don't believe in mudslinging, so not going there. Manikarnika was a hit, made more than Rs 130 crore and that's amazing. But the film was apparently made on a budget of Rs 125 crore. Now who'll tell her if it's a hit or a flop?
Then she goes on to accuse some journalists of finding Sanjay Dutt's drug addiction 'cute', and of texting her not to commit suicide and further accuse them on 'Putting that thought in her mind'.

Sanjay Dutt part, I absolutely concur.

Rest, I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY.
She then says Sushant was a victim of a 'planned murder'. Mumbai Police should be worried about this one.

Then, "He believed when everyone said he's worthless, he gave up."

That's outrageous. She doesn't know this. That's insulting Sushant, his intellect and his struggle.
She literally said, "Sushant ki galti yeh hai." She is no better than the Oberoi son who judged saying Sushant's decision was a 'sad mistake'.

I MEAN, WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU GUYS?
Coming to nepotism. Filmography.

Kai Po Che - Abhishek Kapoor, Shudh Desi Romance - YRF, PK - Raju Hirani, Byomkesh Bakshy - YRF AGAIN, MS Dhoni - Fox/Neeraj Pandey, Raabta - Dinesh Vijan, Kedarnath - AK AGAIN, Sonchiriya - UTV, Chhichore - Nitesh Tiwari (Dangal), Drive - Dharma
FFS since his first movie, he has not worked with a struggling director/production house. KAHA KA NEPOTISM BC? He worked with both YRF (twice) and Dharma, Raju Hirani ffs, Dangal director's next film.

WHO ARE YOU KIDDING?
Was he celebrated as the star kids? No, I agree. Who's responsible? YOU. Why didn't you celebrate him like you celebrated Irrfan? Why are you crying hoarse now? Are you doing enough to support/celebrate brilliant actors who you don't get to see in big-budget movies? NO.
If nepotism was so intense, Kartik wouldn't have been a star now. Siddhant wouldn't have overpowered Ranveer so effortlessly. Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar wouldn't have happened and Uday Chopra and Abhishek Bachchan would have been the biggest stars in India.
Yes, nepotism exists. Actors' kids get easy access. And WHY THE FUCK NOT! It wasn't their choice to be born to film families.

When was the last time we made a star out of someone who's not deserving? Tell me honestly. You can't, because we haven't.
Alia proved herself with Highway itself. And you think it's easy to play a Shanaya or a Poo? No, it's not. She's easily one the best actors in the country.

Karan made Varun a star, but he also made Sid Malhotra one. Karan did sign Vicky Kaushal when he was "nothing".
And why do we never talk about directors? Both Karan and Aditya have introduced so many young directors who had zero connection with the industry. Why would they do that? They can't find star kids interested in direction like Zoya and Farhan?
Big-budget movies bank on star power. No two ways about it. If you've star power, you will be in the circle, if you don't, you won't be. There are 1000s of young actors who reach Mumbai hoping to become stars. That doesn't mean they're entitled to roles or space in film circles.
Rant over.
