If you've been following @bestforbritain, you'll know that attention to good data forms a central part of our work as an organisation.

We've just concluded an in-depth and expensive MRP poll on issues pertinent to Britain's future.

This thread summarises our findings:

1/12
First, a note:

This MRP analysis has been conducted for us by Focaldata, who were the MRP provider for the Conservatives at the last GE.

Because of how opinions were sampled, the results quoted are slightly more representative of Conservative & leave-leaning demographics.

2/12
We found that:

70% of voters in ‘red wall’ and switcher seats (that flipped from Labour to Conservative at the last election) said they wanted the UK to prioritise working with Europe...

...compared to just 20% who said they want UK to work most closely with the US.

3/12
This study has found that 9 in 10 ‘red wall’ voters thought securing an EU trade deal was either important (‘33.9%’) or ‘very important’ (55%).

In Bolsover, this was 88.3%. Dudley North: 87.8%. Workington: 89.5%

4/12
Of those who voted Conservative at the last election #GE2019, 54.8% thought it was ‘very important’ that the government secured an EU trade deal.

5/12
We found that ‘Red wall’ voters were also very concerned about the impact of a no-deal Brexit on the cost of living.

68.3% of ‘red wall’ voters said they thought daily essentials would be more expensive if the UK left the transition period without a deal.

6/12
58.3% of voters in 'Red wall' seats who switched from Labour to Conservative at the last election said they thought the cost of living would rise.

7/12
As @pimlicat says, "the data is clear: so-called 'red wall' voters, particularly those who switched from Labour to Conservative in these key battleground seats, are ready to punish the government if it fails to fulfil its manifesto pledge to secure a trade deal with the EU"

FYI, this MRP analysis follows our report that the North West and Midlands would be among the most severely exposed UK regions to the double economic hit of coronavirus and a no-deal Brexit at the end of the year.
