LOS ANGELES: our kids and parents need you TODAY. Please help us #DefundThePolice in our schools. Besides that fact that no child should be policed in a safe place like school, we also have zero dollars available to spend on terrorizing our kids...
Our kids deserve so much more than what they currently get. Imagine going to schools that dont have full time nurses, librarians, art, PE, music, science, tech, counselors. Now tell me why spending 70 million on policing them would ever be the right choice?
If you’re concerned about safety then take a look at the private schools which all have security to keep people OUT and to keep kids safe but not to actively police the students. Imagine if Harvard Westlake was choke holding kids?!! Imagine what the white parents would do?!
We really need the private and charter parents of LA involved in this issue. It’s really not okay any longer to say you’re anti-racist but not have that apply to your own kids. Please join today and support ALL KIDS. #DefundThePolice#lausd

If you’re interested in affordable housing issues: look up your towns P&Z committees - this is often where the local votes take place. For example, in my hometown of Westport CT we have a vote coming up next week
It would life the cap on multi family dwellings making it easier to build (gasp) apartments! The old guard is fighting it tooth and nail with dog whistles of: ugly buildings! Town will change! Traffic! Crowded schools!
I have no writing advice but I gave up my car during this time and I DO have some advice on how to survive in LA as an artist type. Background - I’ve never had a safety net, never had money from parents, moved to LA with one months rent and have had years of low earnings.
The Joneses are not real. They do not care about if you can keep up with them. Working as a writer has nothing to do with making a shit ton Of money so just don’t make wealth your goal or your metric if you’re doing well.
Keep it lean, cut it all. You don’t need labels, I promise. Don’t shop. Don’t make it an activity. Don’t eat out 24/7 and when you do share stuff. Save your money for the special days.
Hey are any of the writers running for the board running on the platform of having committees that are open to not only board members and hand selected fancy peeps to change things? Because if so, count me in!!!!
Committees I’d like to see ASAP: Showrunner guidance and the overall culture of the writers room (and don’t fret, I love a fun loose room just give me some guidance you know??)
Sexual harrassment/Racism/ Bullying/Abuse: why can’t members who have boots on the ground dealt with this join a committee to help? Just thinking out loud that it might be helpful. Prob shouldn’t be lumped together.
