In 1866 Odisha struck with the great famine ever called Na Anka Durvikhya.
During that time one day thousands of starving people from all part of odisha ,with empty stomach gathered in Badadanda of Puri .
By observing this the British officer Waltier ordered to distribute the thousand quintals of rice from the (Bhandraghara)store house of Shree mandira among the hungry people.
Viewing the miserable conditions of people Gajapati Maharaj also said yes to the proposal.
Everyone became silent and astonished with that decision.
Meanwhile, a very poor old woman came forward with a great courage said to the British officer
-who r you to stop the Chapan Bhoga of My Kalia. May my husband be die my Son be die .
Even then we can't take a single grain from My Kalia's store house.
We have come here to see his face & die.
But there will be no change in any rule and rituals of My Mahaprabhu .
Gone r those days..
Even during such a great famine Odia people had not lost faith on Jagannath or left our Aradhya.
Jai Jagannath🕉🙏
