On Warren Ellis: Fame (or lack thereof) doesn’t excuse bad actions, and people need to stop focusing on that.

Abusive & predatory behaviour is not magically more acceptable if you’re an unknown rather than someone with “influence”.
Any time you’re nearly twice the age of the women you’re creeping on, there’s a power imbalance. Doesn’t matter if you’re the bin man or a writer with his own multi-thousand-person forum.
Also: I am hearing that this is way, way worse than any of us think.
To suggest that fame is the issue is also to suggest that this was transactional for the women involved: they were becoming involved with Ellis BECAUSE of his influence, and thus what it could gain them, not because they were manipulated & gaslit. It’s covert victim-blaming.
“I thought these 20-year-olds liked me for ME, not because I was famous” is what he’s really saying.

No. Fame merely gave him access to approach more young women; the issue is still what he did with that access, which is groom them.
