China was furious with India as it gave political asylum to Dalai Lama of Tibet in 1959 n allowed him to run his govt from exile from Dharamshala.

Nehru was not afraid of hosting Dalai Lama then. He paid the price by fighting the war in 1962 but could not be bullied by China.
Nehru died a sad man in 1964 after doing so much for India. Just because of one war in which he didn't lie or shy away from fighting.

Just a year later, India faced Pakistan in war in 1965 and defeated them decisively under Lal Bahadur Shastri. India's foundation was strong.
Shastriji died in Tashkent the same year under mysterious circumstances while he had gone there to negotiate peace with Pakistan after defeating them. Russia was aiding the talks.

Everyone remembers 1971 war after 1965. No, there was one more, in 1967. With PLA of China.
Let's see what happened in 1967.

The Nathu La and Cho La clashes, also known as Second Sino-Indian War or Second Indo-Chinese War, were a series of military clashes between India and China alongside the border of the Himalayan Kingdom of Sikkim, then an Indian protectorate.
The Nathu La clashes started on 11 September 1967, when the People's Liberation Army (PLA) launched an attack on Indian posts at Nathu La, and lasted till 15 September 1967.

In October 1967, another military duel took place at Cho La and ended on the same day.
According to independent sources, the Indian forces achieved "decisive tactical advantage" and defeated the Chinese forces in these clashes. Many PLA fortifications at Nathu La were said to be destroyed, where the Indian troops drove back the attacking Chinese forces.
The Nathu La clashes between the Indian Army and Chinese Army are depicted in the 2018 Indian Hindi-language film Paltan (film), starring Jackie Shroff as Maj. General Sagat Singh, Arjun Rampal as Lt. Col. Rai Singh Yadav, Harshvardhan Rane as Maj. Harbhajan Singh.
Gurmeet Choudhary as Capt. Prithvi Singh Dagar and Abhilash Chaudhary as Hav. Lakhmi Chand.

All named above are recipient of Mahavir Chakra or Veer Chakra Militray Awards for their bravery during the 1967 war with China.
Causalities:

As per the Indian Defence Ministry reports: 88 killed and 163 wounded on the Indian side, while 340 killed and 450 wounded on the Chinese side, during the two incidents.
