In continuation to the Story of MayuraDhwaja, let us know “DhwajaSthambha”

@ReclaimTemples @punarutthana @LostTemple7
1) Jeeva Dhaaru (Live Wood) is used for a Dhwaja Sthambha with a layering of Copper or Gold sheet containing sculptural designs from the Puranas related to the main deity.
2) Three metal layers on the top are called - “Mekala” (Zone/Layer/Belt) represent - Three worlds - Trailokya: Bhur(Bhumi), Bhuva(Antariksa), Suvaha(Swarga).
3) This Mekala contains the bells & the act of ringing them is called – “Bali” reminds you of the devotion towards the Daivam.
4) The three Kalasas over the Mekala represent - TriGunas (Satvika, Rajasa, Thamasa) & TriTapa (Bhoutika, Daivika, Adhyatmika) through which we can attain the Daivam.
A lamp called “Akasa Deepam” is lit on the top in the remembrance of the great Samaritan – “MayuraDhwaja” reminds us everyday to become Samaritan,the essence of Life.
A flag is hoisted on DhwajaSthambha called “Dhwaja Patam” with the Vahanas of the Main deity like Nandi or Garuda or their Ayudhas like Trisula or Chakra indicating the Deity of temple to devotees far off.
During the celebrations Flag is raised to the top called – DhwajaArohana.

Bringing down after celebrations is called – DhwajaAvanata.
As the main deity “Praana Prathistha” is also done to Dhwaja Sthambha & considered equal to “MoolaViraat".

“Pradakshina” is incomplete if the DhwajaSthambha is not included.
