Did you know this about our temples?

External appearance of our temple looks like a Mountain.

The temple is built to resemble the Mount Meru.
Mount Meru also called Sumeru (Divine Meru) or Mahaameru (Great Meru), is the “Pancha Shikhara Parvatam” (Five Peaked Mountain) revered by Sanatanis as the abode of Gods & centre of the “Bhuugolam” where “Prapancha Kriya” happens.
In this picture Kandhariya Mahadev Temple, Khajuraho – we can see upgrading 5 Shikharas representing the Mount Meru.

What does that mean?
When you are at entrance of the temple (Number 1, Lower Peak) Urge for god is less. As we go ahead inside the temple towards main deity, the height of peaks is increasing. Same way urge in us for god also increases as we proceed towards Garbha Griha.
