1.THE CHALLENGE OF BUILDING NIGERIA

It soon becomes clear to any well-meaning citizen who has done a bit of reading on the political history of Nigeria that patriotism and optimism will not be enough to transform our country.

Our development lies beyond partisanship. I explain.
2.Nigeria has been blessed with true patriots and nationalists since the colonial era when Nigeria became an entity. We have had brilliant orators, thinkers and politicians but the majority of our people still live in poverty and crime is becoming the new societal norm.
3.What our nation has always lacked is the lack of backing up of our brilliant political thoughts, philosophy and policies with ACTIONS.

Our arms of government have been peopled with people who will rather organize seminars on poverty reduction than enforce laws that would...
4.Lead to prevention of smuggling, prevent economic and financial crimes and promote local production.

Do you remember how strongly supposedly brilliant economists resisted the border closure aimed at encouraging local production of foods? It also became PDP vs APC.
5. It's on record that the pre-independence Regional governments brought unprecedented development to the Regions despite differing political philosophies and parties:The Action Group of Awolowo did not just talk about free education, it went ahead to build cheap mud classrooms!
6.I make bold to say that the present @OfficialAPCNg govt. of @MBuhari has put action into a lot of it's talk. Only the hopelessly partisan will deny the strides but we also know there are party members who are not impressed because their personal agenda has not been fulfilled.
7. The past PDP government was good in drafting legislations that it never had the mind to enforce: TSA, IPPIS etc. It defanged enforcement agencies like EFCC, ICPC etc
The judiciary became part of the corruption cartels in our National landscape. The legislature was unstable.
8. If we truly are interested in building a country that will eradicate poverty, we must all realize that development lies beyond simple hard-headed partisanship.

There must be a minimum acceptable standard of behaviour for political actors and institutions.
9. Don't be deceived, it takes political actors to build enduring national institutions .

Anyone who thinks empowering corrupt, discredited and unrepentant politicians ( old and young) back to power in 2023 is deceiving himself. A goat will not give birth to a cow.😀
10. The challenge of development in Nigeria ultimately, is in the hands of the people. Can we summon a National consensus to choose only leaders who are ready to back up their words with ACTIONS in 2023 and beyond?
