It’s this:
How many “fellows” of institutes & thinktanks are not academics (as they used to be) but journalists.
That’s when you know your country is being taken over.
Why is this so important?
Institutes or TTS were originally there to provide hard science or research to enter public debate. Sure some were more Conservative or left but that’s fine. Competition in ideas.
But 1st in US then UK some people realised you could corrupt these.
Consider if a journalist writes something in a left or Conservative paper it gets treated as such. But what if you got a “fellow” at an institute to say something and then get it reported in a newspaper?
Instantly raises credibility.
But how do you do this if....
How do you get institutes to report the “facts” you want if academics don’t agree with your science?
Simple.
You set up your own institutes with your own “fellows”.
And these “fellows” are now increasingly...journalists.
That’s why there are so many climate change institutes in the US. They are set up to exclude real science.
This strategy has hit UK. The best know example - the Policy Exchange.
It’s basically a way to use Telegraph journalists to get spurious academic credibility.
Now you might think this is small thing in the light of everything else. It’s not.
Countries that go down this path are essentially swapping scientific/academic trade journals which can be inconvenient for “bought” journalists.
Facts slip away and public debate collapses.
Britain has a vast array of institutions quoted on TV & throughout the media that are essentially quoting as academic work other journalists - often even themselves.
The point of the whole exercise is to destroy knowledge & understanding.
That’s how we ended up with Brexit.
