regular reminder that the idea of “black on black crime” as a unique form of violence is an attempt to pathologize the general fact that violent crime happens between people in close proximity to each other, which in a segregated society means most violent crime is intra-racial.
if you wouldn’t describe criminal violence among whites as “white on white crime”, then you probably shouldn’t do so with blacks.
Yep. It’s the idea that rates of violent crime & criminal victimization among black people is tied to their *blackness* versus, say, segregation and the exposure to concentrated poverty, joblessness, and the absence of a state control on violence.
