2/ Carbon pricing is not the only tool in the box - massive energy system decarbonisation is up there, too - but a universal price on carbon (with appropriate exemptions to prevent hardship) would have the greatest short-term impact on CO2 emissions and resource depletion.
3/ If you're opposed to carbon pricing, you're not really serious about rapid decarbonisation within the time scales we have, and you're not serious about embedding responsibility for our consumer choices within the prices we pay.
4/ If you're opposed to carbon pricing because you find the price mechanism objectionable, then you're well outside the realms of the practical debate about how we get out of the existential crisis we face. Please don't message me; I don't have time for it.
5/ In addition to carbon-pricing, which would both retard superfluous consumption and raise revenue to be ploughed back into mitigation and decarbonisation, we're also going to need geoengineering. I don't think there's any getting away from that now. But, don't panic...
6/ ...because we've been geoengineering to cool the planet ever since we started burning solid fuels. We're going to need to spray a few billion tonnes of benign calcium carbonate into the atmosphere every year until atmospheric CO2 begins to fall. scientificamerican.com/article/risks-….

10/ Most politicians are lying to you - & themselves - about the threat posed by rapid global warming. They're prisoners of their 20th Century world view. Everything needs to change to save the things - family, security, climate - that make life worth living. Deal with it.
