7,096 Albertans have now recovered. 37 people are hospitalized with 6 in ICUs. There are 45 new cases out of about 6,500 new tests. We have 532 active cases with 236 in the Edmonton zone. There have been 0 new deaths. (1/8)

Our lab has identified 800 samples that were collected but delayed in getting tested due to a transportation issue. 6 positive tests have been contacted & tracing is underway. A small # who tested negative may need to be retested-the lab will contact individuals directly. (2/8)
We are listing a new outbreak at the Misericordia Hospital in Edmonton. It is confined to a single unit. So far 6 patients & 2 staff have tested positive. Outbreak protocols have been implemented & all staff or patients who may have been exposed are being tested. (3/8)
We added the NE region of Edmonton to Alberta’s watch list yesterday. This list is simply an indicator that health officials need to take a closer look at what’s going on. We are in contact with AHS and City of Edmonton and no additional measures are needed at this time. (4/8)
A number of restaurants in Edmonton closed last weekend. To date, there are no outbreaks. Closure decisions were made by owners, not AB Health or AHS. All restaurants are expected to have rapid response procedures if a staff member or patron develops symptoms of COVID-19. (5/8)
1 case doesn’t automatically require a business to close or that anyone who visited is at risk. Contact tracing teams closely assess based on when an individual became symptomatic & 2 days prior. Anyone at risk is contacted, offered testing & required to isolate. (6/8)
We have developed detailed public health guidance for a reason. As we move forward, we’ll continue to see some new cases in all sectors, including the food service industry & ongoing use of preventive measures is needed to keep spread low. (7/8)
