The coronavirus is fast running out of control, & Gov. Greg Abbott is talking like he might take that seriously.
Through Monday, Texas had had 2 days over 4,000 cases (see thread below).
Texas does things big.
Tuesday’s cases: 5,489.
Monday at a press conference, Abbott held firm to his view that things would be okay. He urged people to wear masks.
Today, he was far more worried.
The virus is ‘rampant’ in the state.
‘... there’s never a reason for you to have to leave your home. Unless you do need to go out, the safest place for you is at your home.’
Texans, just stay home.

Raising the question how the economy & business of TX will continue apace if the governor now wants all the customers to stay home.
Abbott didn’t shut Texas today — he just asked everyone to act like it was shut, as the virus continues to spread exponentially.
Making Tuesday, June 23, the first day of the pandemic that 2 separate states each had 5,000 new cases.
When cases are totaled, today will be #2 for cases in the pandemic in the US.
Or maybe #1.
It may well prevent school & college from re-opening in about 8 weeks.
What lessons did we learn the first time?
Not the right ones.
