Since I stopped writing political posts, my life has truly become better. I have developed the ability to laugh at what used to annoy me.
I've seen people trade insults and make enemies because of politicians who don't even have any proof of their existence. I've often said that the major difference between APC and PDP is the position of their alphabets. They are errant twins sired by the same parents.
The other parties? They are aberrant covens seeking to upstage their errant siblings.
Anyway, these are my 7 rules for political engagement.

1. Don't be a rabid supporter. Choose your battles carefully. You may just have to swallow everything you said before and return to your vomit. Know when to back off a discussion. Sometimes, it's better to lose the argument. Except it's putting food on your table.
2. Be tactful when you give dissenting views on political posts. Politics should not make you lose your sense of discretion and good judgement.
3. Don't inherit the enemies of your Principal. You may soon find yourself in bed with them.
4. Don't trade insults over any politician or view. Let their biological children do that. Be polite to everyone.
5. Don't allow your blood to be shed over a politician. You won't even get a street named after you. By the way, your kids won't get all the support promised at your funeral. You're forgotten as soon as you're under the earth.
6. Don't take any politician too seriously until proven otherwise. If you don't expect too much, you'll not be disappointed.
7. Don't try to change anyone's opinion. Their minds are already made up just like yours.
