#Kwashiorkor is distinguished by swelling (or edema) & enlarged liver with too much fat.

It happens when your child consumes enough calories, but with insufficient #protein.

We see this in areas of famine or poor food supply as has been reported in some areas due to lockdown.2️⃣
#Marasmus is total energy deficiency in all forms, including proteins. You see mainly muscle wasting & loss of skin fat.

It can occur in anyone with severe malnutrition but usually in children.

Body weight is reduced to less than 62% of the normal (expected) for age. 3️⃣
Marasmus occurrence increases before age 1.

Kwashiorkor occurrence increases after 18 months.

This is one reason proper breastfeeding & infant nutrition is crucial during early life. 4️⃣
And let me remind us that breast milk is the only food & drink your baby needs until the age of 6 months.

Thereafter, your child needs different kinds of food & should be fed 5 times a day, in addition to breast milk. 5️⃣

After sex,

1. Pee
2. Wash up
3. Drink water
4. Cuddle

In that order.
1. Why should you pee?

Studies have shown that peeing immediately after sex helps to prevent urinary tract infections (UTI). The urine flushes out some germs that may have got stuck in the urine passage (urethra) during sex.
2. Why should you wash up?

Washing up the genital area gently with clean water after sex helps to maintain your hygiene, reduce your risk of infection risk, and freshens you up.

There are two openings in the vulva — the vaginal opening and the urethral opening.

The urethral opening is the hole you pee out of. It is a tiny hole located just below your clitoris. The vaginal opening is right below your urethral opening.
As a woman, during vaginal sex, organisms in your vagina might find thier way deep into your urethra due to two reasons:

1. The thrusting
2. The fact that your urethra is shorter (5cm) than that of men (20cm)

So you are more prone to getting urinary tract infections after sex.

Having enough folic acid in your body at that critical time helps your baby's brain and spinal cord to develop well. Image
Folic acid boosts the production of red blood cells in the body to prevent anemia in pregnancy and prepare you for child delivery. Image
