Tales from the Frontlines of Emulation:

Meet DEXTER. DEXTER goes into a Dragon's Lair (and Space Ace and Firefox and Cliffhanger and etc.) arcade machine and completely replaces the laserdisc, allowing the game to run even with that hardware dead.
DEXTER is designed to have the same hookups to the laserdisc player that the arcade machine expects - it just snaps into it to replace them. The arcade machine has no idea it's not using new hardware. The game plays the same.
Like a lot of these custom solutions, it does runs of the boards, then sells out the batch, then does another, and you ride the waves over the years. I can't imagine you have one of these machines and don't know DEXTER, but if you don't: laserdisc-replacement.com
Recent DEXTER iteration. Again, as people are wanting me to point out, it just replaces a laserdisc, it's NOT a full arcade machine PCB.
