If you’re looking to buy a printer for a home office, your best bet is likely a laser printer 🖨.
They’re significantly more reliable than inkjets over time, and churn out pages of text faster, too.

And if you buy a black-and-white laser, your per page printing costs will likely be much less than an inkjet.
No ink nozzles means clogs aren’t a problem for inkjets either. Plus, inkjets don’t waste toner on maintenance 🤷‍♀️.

The emergence of potentially faster spreading variants of the coronavirus is increasing concern about the virus’s path. The variant causing the most alarm has prompted new lockdown restrictions within the United Kingdom.

🧵 Here's what we know about it: Rendering of coronavirus
The US now requires that people arriving here from the UK to test negative by a PCR or antigen test no more than 72 hours before departure.

Experts note that viruses always mutate. This virus, like many others, constantly acquires and loses genetic traits as it spreads.
• Why Do Viruses Mutate?

Viruses like SARS-CoV-2, which causes COVID-19, make imperfect copies of themselves as they spread from person to person or from an animal to a person, leading to constant mutations and new variants, says Peter Katona, MD, of @dgsomucla.

How to use an air purifier when a family member has COVID? 🧵

To use a HEPA purifier at home to help prevent transmission of the virus to other family members, place the unit three feet from the person who is sick with COVID-19.
Run it 24 hours a day on the highest setting that won’t disturb the sick person’s sleep.

In addition, keep the air purifier separated from anything that can obstruct airflow, such as curtains or furniture, and keep the door to the room closed.
Take extra precautions when handling the air purifier and changing the HEPA filter. According to early studies, the coronavirus can live on plastic and steel, both materials air purifiers are commonly made of, for up to three days.

Don’t touch the air purifier while it’s in use.

One takeaway from today's #AppleEvent is that the new iPad will be ditching the lighting cable in favor of USB-C.

A lot of consumers are still confused about Type-C connectors and how they differ from all the other connectors out there.

So here's what you need to know 🧵:
Type-C plugs can do the work of any other USB connector, but they are small enough to fit into mobile devices (like a phone or tablet) as well as computers.

They’re about the same size as Micro-B and just half of the height of Type-A ports.
That means electronics makers won't need to use the Micro, Mini, and other types of USB ports anymore.

As lightning cables and other USB's begin to be phased out, you should be able to pack fewer cables into your travel bag.

Hurrican Sally is expected to make landfall on the Gulf Coast tonight.

For those evacuating, we recommend you pack 3-days worth of supplies, try to keep it lightweight but remember to pack your COVID protection supplies.
Your kit should include a 3-day supply of items such as food, water, personal hygiene items, and cleaning & disinfectant supplies (hand sanitizer with 60% alcohol, and disinfecting wipes).

Remember to pack enough face masks for everyone in your household.
If you need to go to a shelter, you can expect the following COVID-19 precautions to be in place:

• A health screening process for everyone coming into a shelter
•Isolation care areas for anyone who is sick
•Masks, tissues, and plastic bags
•Social distancing practices
