I stand by every criticism I’ve ever made about the Democratic Party. I disagree with a good chunk of that party’s platform, especially with regard to abortion.

The GOP isn’t a Conservative party today. It’s a personality cult with one person at its center - Donald Trump.
It’s not a fiscally responsible party. They’ve exploded the deficit and the debt and now seem oddly unconcerned about either.

It’s not the party of National Defense. They were apoplectic about our failures in Benghazi but are slow to react to Russian aggression and have only had temporary criticism for Trump’s abandonment of our allies.
It’s not a godly party. The list of moral scandals involving those in party leadership is long and sometimes sordid. But they know how to placate a subset of Evangelicals with the occasional call for prayer and other church talk. And that’s enough for many. Literal lip service.
The GOP is no longer a party that can even remotely credibly claim to be pro-Constitution. They say silent as the President oversteps his Constitutional authority and breaks the law. Even though they have the Constitutional power to stop him. But they don’t.
Being OK (silence is complicity) with the President using taxpayer money to try to force a foreign government to help him win re-election. Asking yet another foreign government to help him win re-election and being okay with them building concentration camps. Really??
Saying nothing when the President publicly takes the side of the Russian President over the professional opinion of the US Intelligence Community. Saying nothing when he orders law-abiding protesters to be gassed to make way for for a photo op.
Doing nothing when he lets it slide when the new leader of Saudi Arabia orders the literal butchering of a journalist who lived in Virginia. Biting their tongues when he fails to strongly condemn neo-Nazis whose rally leads to the deaths of a civilian and two VA state troopers.
NONE of these things have anything to do with the Democrats. This is the moral rot that has eroded everything that conservatives ever claimed that the GOP at least conceptually stood for. It’s all gone. There’s nothing left.
Be honest enough with yourself to admit that the party you think you are supporting no longer exists other than in name.
