The data shows elderly in nursing homes died at MUCH HIGHER RATE than those at home in New York during this crisis.
He is partially right that the staff infected people...but definitely some patients being sent back did too.
Well, that comes from data like this, from @Avik.
The problem? That is playing with numbers.
forbes.com/sites/theapoth…
In total numbers, NY is #2, behind only NJ, which had the same flawed policies. CA, FL, GA, TX...all had far fewer.
Ohio has one of the HIGHEST % (hovering around 60%, earlier was higher). NY was at about 13%.
But Ohio is more than half the size of NY, and has 1,100 deaths...
NY by comarison? FOUR THOUSAND, or double the per capita rate.
So @NYGovCuomo is simply lying about the science. I kind of hoped @chucktodd would've done a better job.
Cuomo is clearly twisting the science for his political purposes as much as any politician. He'd be better off admitting he made a mistake and he will do better (which is a fair analysis).
