1. Humans evolved into men and women
2. Humans reproductive sexually, and
3. women (when healthy) have a uterus, womb, vagina, eggs (not sperm), and tend to be smaller and physically weaker on average.
"Trans women are women" people reject this entirely
The other side thinks that "Woman" is a PURELY social role enforced by social rules. It is NOT a category that describes a physical or biological reality.
For them to talk about a "biological woman" is like talking about a "biological President" or a "biological mailman."
For them being a woman is merely a social role enforced by social rules having nothing to do with biology.
And because social rules can change, they decided to change the the rules. So now, in the same way anyone can be President, anyone can be a woman - regardless of biology
The key thing here is to realize that the "trans women are women" people see the word woman as referring entirely to a social role. They think that we could group humans according to height, eye color, weights, hair color, shoes size, or whatever else...why choose genitals?
This of course, ignores that
1. We are a sexually reproductive species and that mating is how we keep our species alive, so genitals matter.
2. Men are almost always bigger and stronger than women
The thing is they IGNORE it, they haven't MISSED it. They IGNORE it on purpose
The think restricting the category of "women" based on the genitals a person has isn't fair, people should play whatever role they like, and if that role means using the women's locker room then a 6'6 220 pound trans woman with male genitals gets to change with the ladies.
And THAT is the thing that J.K. Rowling is objecting to. Rowling's point is the categories of "women" and "men" are not purely social roles that sprung fourth from the soil of human society unseeded by the reality of basic human biology.
She thinks that's wrong
Rowling understands that real and important on the ground facts about Men and Women can't just be ignored in the name of letting people "live their truth" and "be who they want."
Treating people with respect, does not mean we allow dangerous situations in name of kindness
And allowing bigger strong biological males into spaces where females are not clothed or protected (like locker rooms) is not wise, it is not safe, and it is not fair to women who want to change and not have to worry about taking advantage of the new rules.
Calling J.K. Rowling a bigot for her defense of women's spaces is mean nothing more than spirited bullying by people who think their gender beliefs outweigh the need of biological women to know they are safe and secure at public facilities.
