This bill has at least five major, and dangerous, flaws. To start: the bill will force social media and messaging companies to collect legal identification of all users. [2/6] act.eff.org/action/pl-das-…
It will also force WhatsApp and similar tools to retain immense logs of user communications. It will also ban private messaging companies from allowing broadcast groups, even if users sign up. [3/6]
If you share a message that denounces corruption of a local authority and it gets forwarded more than 1,000 times, authorities may criminally accuse you. [4/6]
It will force social media and messaging companies to make private user logs available remotely. [5/6]
Perhaps worst of all, it does not restrict this law only to users in Brazil. To ensure that human rights are preserved, the Brazilian legislature must reject the current version of this bill. [6/6] act.eff.org/action/pl-das-…
