2- Career is a not a job. A job is only a part of your career. A career is a journey and it is always better to start the journey on campus.

4- Please, underline the willing in the last tweet. It is important that the person is willing, but not just willing, but able to lead you to your desired goal.

9- Your Lecturer. A way to get a career mentor is to connect with a lecturer before leaving school. Don't say you will not need them. Even if all you will get is a letter of recommendation for further study, it's worth it.

10- Secondly, attend seminars and training. It is a good way to make connections with people in your field. Don't be in a haste after the meeting. Reach out to one or two.

Don't be quick to ask for mentorship. Connect first.

11- There are organizations involved in providing mentors for students and young graduates. Make use of Google. @TonyElumeluFDN can also provide mentors for you.

@TonyElumeluFDN 12- Lastly, social media. You can connect with people on LinkedIn and Twitter too. But, please, be polite. Nobody owes you. Also, tweet responsibly. Don't drag anyone with a tweet that will cost you. My motto on twitter is 'mind your business'.

@TonyElumeluFDN 13- I will stop here and take questions. This thread is not to tell you about the benefits of a mentor, but to show you what to do before seeking a mentor and how to get one. Next week, we will talk about how to relate with mentors.
