4- To start with, let me debunk a notion that have been peddled by some folks who motivates without guiding you on how to Chanel the motivation that "your country does not have to determine your story".

5- That sounds appealing but it is in no way correct. There are 3 foundational things that affect your career story:

-Your nuclear family
-Your generation
-Your country of residence

6- Long before you can think for yourself, your family would have determined the kind of education you get and this will stick with you for the rest of your life.

7- For most, primary, secondary and tertiary education largely depends on the opinions of our sponsors and not your goals. Your course of study and institution maybe your choice, but there was an imaginary boundary that was determined by finance

8- You will grow to a point before you can break off from the path that has been set before you. Some break off after first degree. Most remain on the path.

9- Secondly, you are affected by your generation. Your generation determines your need and the values you can create that would be acceptable.

10- Thirdly, you are affected by your country of residence. Nigeria determines a lot of things that you are not even aware of.

11- I relocated sometimes ago and I discovered that my monthly data subscription was no longer enough despite not changing the things I do on the internet. I wondered what could be wrong; I thought I was been scammed.

12- It took me many days to figure out that the power supply of my new location is better than where I was coming from so I have been spending more time online than I used to which took more data.

13- It's not good to be used to what is not excellent! The Nigerian society creates an atmosphere that is not very conducive for many career fields. You shoukd be conscious of that when making career choice.

14- Your study environment does not encourage the best from you. No power. No internet. These things are not luxuries. They play a huge role in the success of a career.

15- That been said, there are some fields that are not well established in Nigeria. Mostly, science related fields like Microbiology, Botany and Zoology.

16- Agriculture is steadily on the rise, but it's not yet appreciable enough. ICT has boomed, is booming and will yet boom. The same with the finance sector.

#EKSUNews
#CareerTipsForStudents
17- That's why you see a lot of people who studied a biological science or agric course working in finance institutions and ICT. Many have switched just because they live in a country where their chosen career is not developed.

18- I am raising this issue for two reasons:
-For you to be conscious of the fact that you are being affected by Nigeria.

-For you to get involved in how to make Nigeria better

As long as we fold our arms, we will not get to the places we want
