Today is the anniversary of Sir Nicholas Winston’s death.

He was a hero who saved 669 Jewish children from Czechoslovakia in 1938-39.

He was very modest, not mentioning his achievement until late in his life.

Here is the wonderful “That’s Life” section with Esther Rantzen, where Nicholas Winton is reunited with many of those whom he rescued, and their children. The whole audience were either themselves the children of 1939, or descendants of those children.
