4 Simple Market Research Tools to Help You Find Topics for Content[Thread]

Market research sounds like a scary industry term but you can actually get it done with some basics to help you come up with topics to talk to your audience about.
Market research is basically gathering info to help you get to know your tribe more. It’s important for content strategy because it’s going to help you get out of the cycle of throwing mud at the wall and hoping it sticks when it comes to content creation. Getting right to it...
1. Social media polls- IG & Twitter specifically have great tools for setting up polls for your audience.

These platforms know that brands are here to learn how they can serve their people better so they’ve made it easier.

Take full advantage. ImageImage
2. Google Forms- This is a very cool product that Google probably needs to promote more 👀.

Forms is a free tool that allows you to come up with customizable surveys to send out to your audience.

Super user friendly and tons of great factors to help build a solid survey. ImageImage
Forms will intergrate with the rest of your Google products that are connected to your Gmail account (Drive, etc).

Once you’ve sent out the survey and it collects all the data, you’ll get a lovely little pie chart that looks like this Image
As you can see in the last photo, you can view the individual answers to the questions for each entry. This is golden for open ended questions so include some of those if you can.

But wait...it gets better
If you click the little green box seen in the pic below it’ll create a whole Google spreadsheet for you 😯

I love fancy Google.

Obviously this sheet is a little skimpy b/c it’s an example but this is definitely a time saver. And you don’t have to be tech savvy so no worries. ImageImage
3. Answerthepublic.com

Answerthepublic allows users to type in a word or phrase to get a view of tons of predictive google questions in one spot.

Honestly the usefulness of the tool speaks for itself ImageImageImageImage
4. Comment sections - I know people always say don’t read the comments but read them.

Here’s the thing- most people have adopted social media platforms as search engines and they’ve adopted other ppl as human Googles. So you’ll see tons of ppl asking questions in the comments
The comment section is one of my fav places to browse because it’s a candid look at the issues that are “true to form”. Meaning people are screaming straight from the struggle bus of what they need/want to know.

All you have to do is pay attention
All of these tools are great for coming up with fresh content ideas for your audience.
