Update on Wirecard: Justice Sec Menardo Guevarra says BI has established that Jan Marsalek, ex-COO of wirecard AG, did not arrive in PH on June 23 based on CCTV footages, airline manifests, and other records. He also did not depart on June 24, as there was no such flight to China
Guevarra: Investigation has now turned to the persons who made false entries in database, their motives, and their cohorts. Immigration officers who encoded these fictitious entries have been relieved and are now facing administrative sanctions.
Guevarra: I will direct the National Bureau of Investigation to probe into this matter more deeply and determine possible criminal responsibility.

ABS-CBN News has learned that Rep. Rodante Marcoleta, who questioned ABS-CBN chairman emeritus Eugenio "Gabby" Lopez III's citizenship, had previously sought to allow dual citizens to run for public office without renouncing foreign citizenship.
Marcoleta authored HB03737 introduced in September 2016 which would have done away with a reqt under RA 9225 for Filipinos with dual citizenship to renounce foreign citizenship as a requirement upon the filing of a certificate of candidacy. But it did not prosper.
Marcoleta claimed Lopez was not Filipino when he became head of ABS-CBN and petitioned for recog'n of Filipino citizenship only in 2000. He conceded Wednesday that Lopez is Filipino and American but cast doubt whether a dual citizen can own, manage mass media company.

In a Facebook post, an NBI agent details how a 25-yr-old teacher who offered P50M to anyone who kills the President was arrested in Zambales on Monday. Says teacher confessed after they applied "reverse psychology" while inside vehicle with his parents.

I understand that this person has been placed in custody by the NBI and may be brought to inquest. So I'll leave it to the investigating prosecutor.

Guevarra on Mas' apology:

However, apology is not one of the grounds for extinguishing criminal liability. I cannot feloniously injure another and get away with it by merely saying 'sorry.'

Former DICT Sec Rodolfo Salalima expresses legal view that NTC's cease and desist order vs ABS-CBN is void ab initio because it violated ABS-CBN's right to due process and NTC's own rules of procedure. Being void ab initio, he says CDO has no force of law. [A THREAD] 1/
Salalima says ABS-CBN's constitutional right to due process was violated because ABS-CBN was never notified nor heard about alleged violation. Says that if complaint was filed before May 5, it is premature. If filed on May 5, CDO was hastily issued on same day. 2/
Salalima also asks: Was a copy of the petition, if any, served on ABS-CBN and was a show cause order issued before CDO? Answer is NO. This, he says, is a violation of procedural due process. NTC rules also require show cause order be issued before CDO. 3/
