@raidevon @KnowledgeBottle I think the main variables here are fear, especially in relation to identity.
The more identity is a function of “cherished” ideas, the more fear there is of those beliefs being at risk.
The only real threat to cherished beliefs and ideas are “better” ideas and beliefs.

@raidevon @KnowledgeBottle The mistake is to identify so strongly with such beliefs and ideas that it becomes fearful to even consider other ideas because to do so feels as though one’s actual self is put at risk.
@raidevon @KnowledgeBottle If healthy distances are nurtured here, and one’s identity is relaxed into something less serious, more fluid and curious, fear of **other** ideas and beliefs dissolves.
@raidevon @KnowledgeBottle If our cherishing of ideas and beliefs is not made fragile by the connection to identity, then we can comfortable put those ideas against one another, and hopefully figure out which ones are more effective.
