Huh. I wonder if this could have anything to do with the media and left-wing activists attacking this couple as violent racists for trying to defend their property?

What say you, @NYMag? Any thoughts?

And they weren’t alone.

🧵THREAD🧵
Perhaps you can chime in about the “peaceful” protestors who destroyed and decided to “protest” on private property, @washingtonpost?
But surely these folks deserve it, for they are nothing more than the flesh and blood incarnation of racism, right, @nhannahjones?
@ABC conveniently left out that this investigation concluded that it was the “protestors” who were found at fault here. And that they were “protesting” on private property.
“Peaceful protestors” is what @Reuters calls a group on private property threatening the people who live there.
@BillKristol on bad viral takes is like white on rice.
@NBCNews also conveniently omits that these “protestors” were on private property. Amazing.
@mmfa can always be counted on to miss the plot.
And speaking of missing the plot, here’s @BCAppelbaum who seems to blame the couple because of...the sins of the original owners of their home.
Your tax dollars hard at work at @NPR, who blame the couple’s neighbor for a large group of trespassers.

As others have pointed out, the couple are defense attorneys who are BLM supporters.
Obligatory @kurteichenwald mention.
Defending yourself is now racist, to hear @TalbertSwan tell it.
And he wasn’t alone in the racism insinuation. Here’s @tariqnasheed, who has been on the thread before for his liberal accusations of racism, real and imagined.

Suspected White supremacists! They should sue for defamation.
Now maybe I need to brush up on my constitution, but I don’t think it gives people the right to trespass, @JYSexton.
I don’t even know what’s happened to @Newsweek of late.

This isn’t reporting. It’s activism.
And the gun grabbing advocates saw their moment too. Here’s @GiffordsCourage, @MomsDemand and @Everytown.
But I don’t want to lose sight of how bad the media antagonized this couple.

@AP, given the critical context that you left out, can you be surprised that people are still terrorizing this couple?
And you @nytimes. Are you kidding me with this?
And we’ll close with @Yamiche. “Peaceful crowd of protestors” doesn’t describe a mob on private property.

If the details were different, we wouldn’t need to be having this conversation. But God forbid these people miss an opportunity to advance their narrative.
So, no. When you sick a collective mob on a couple you’ve smeared as hateful, evil, bigots to fit your narrative, you shouldn’t be surprised when the mob shows up.

And it’s on you that they’re there. Shameful.
