Propane Jane: Shut the state [of Texas] down. Masks are one thing, but that's not stopping people from going to work or going to places they don't necessarily need to be. Our numbers were not this bad when we were staying home. Shut things down till we have control

Jane: He even admitted to having made a mistake. He said maybe it wasn't the best idea to open bars back up; he closed them & reduced restaurant capacity

Rick: We're dependent on the weakest link to do the right thing.
Propane Jane: They can act like they want to do something different, but until the politicians model that behavior themselves, it won't work.

Propane Jane: We're not paying people enough to sustain themselves. Countries that have successfully fought the coronavirus have helped people sustain themselves, not having to worry about money.

Propane Jane: We don't have a vaccine yet. None of the scientific indicators are telling us people should be doing as much movement as they're doing--it's the ripple effect; people are still traveling between states.

Propane Jane: Giving tax breaks for travel isn't realistic when 99% of the population is struggling in these conditions.
Rick: What will $4000 do if you don't have a job that gives you vacation? This is just to help the rich who were going to Disney anyway.

Jane: She suffers from racism. The idea that that's an acceptable behavior is....not.

Propane Jane: It's possible for someone to clinically be an arrogant jerk that can get them fired. It will be attached to the behaviors they did, but that's not disqualifying for a lot of job--see Trump for example.

Propane Jane: For those of us who watch as marginalized people, who belong to the groups Trump constantly attacks, the GOP getting the dog whistles & the timelines in place...it was not coincidence Trump wanted his Tulsa rally on Juneteenth.

Propane Jane: As a black Texan, we carry. How else do people think we survived Jim Crow, reconstruction? White people have the right to carry, as do black people, but I know it scares white people when we carry.

Propane Jane: In the gun debate, there are heavily-armed people on both sides, but it's the white guys who are heavily armed who are going into the booths, voting Republican, because they know Republicans will hold up the billion dollar gun industry.

Propane Jane: My husband is a major gun enthusiast. He watches gun shows, he has all the things. The targets used on these shows look like black people. Open carry, stand your ground, have already been taught through concealed carry licenses.

Propane Jane: If we don't solve the underlying problems, such as institutionalized suppression of marginalized groups--women, people of color, LGBTQ, etc--there's still the emotional baggage that leads to these problems.

Propane Jane: Mary Trump is so close to Trump & knows so much about him. He doesn't want certain people who don't know he's the scum of the earth to find that out.
